The Faculty of Nursing Sciences is proud to join others institutions both at national and international levels to train the single most valuable asset within the health care systems of any country. Together we can determine quality and provide value for our patients & communities, all of the above can only be realized by focusing on our vision and mission bellow:

To achieve excellence in nursing programs being offered by the faculty at all KHI campuses

Mission



To provide quality care to the population of Rwanda by becoming a center of excellence for the development of professional nurses and midwives.

Philosophy for the Faculty of Nursing Sciences

We believe in long life learning, that skills and ways of thinking are learned from experts with intuitive knowledge.

Goals of the Faculty



  1. Improve the quality and extent of the programs being offered in accordance with identified needs of the country;
  2. Expand the scope of programs by establishing specialized programs;
  3. Develop need-based modules for professional development for staff;
  4. Step up clinical strategies for all programs and strengthen skill development for students;
  5. Review Mental Health and Midwifery curriculums with a view to upgrade the programs to degree level;
  6. Develop the research capacity and publication through involvement of faculty members;
  7. Strengthen  collaboration with universities abroad and partners across the country

The Faculty of Nursing Sciences offers programs leading to the award of Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in the relevant disciplines as listed below:


    Advanced Diploma in Mental Health Nursing;
    Advanced Diploma in Midwifery;
    Bachelor of Science in General Nursing;
    Bachelor of Nursing Education (BNE)
    Master Degree in Critical Care and Trauma Nursing
