PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Welcome to Kigali Health Institute!  We appreciate your interest in our Medical Imaging Sciences.

Medical imaging Sciences Program founded in 1999 offers a learning experience in the Radiologic Sciences; which allows a graduate the ability to prosper as a professional entry-level radiographer or seek further advancement through the diverse opportunities in diagnostic imaging. The program offers a three year Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences course. The program has been expanding throughout the years with the growing numbers of students and providing both theoretical and clinical education in the imaging sciences.

Good chest Radiography requires precision and acuracy to produce quality image

This is a full time training program and it is not recommended for those who cannot devote themselves as full time students.  Because technologists are on their feet for long periods of time and may lift or turn disabled patients, physical stamina is important (Adler and Carlton).
The program is designed to prepare students for employment in hospitals or clinics as radiographers. Radiographers produce radiographs (x-rays) of bones and body structures as directed by supervising physicians.
Hospitals/clinics that we utilize as clinical sites are:  CHUK, King Fycal, and Kibagabaga, & Muhima Hospital.

One look is worth a thousands listens- seeing through the eye of a radiographer is beleiving. “traditionally diagnostic of conditions such as pneumonia involved listening percusions in the chest cavity” -now with technology this has been made much easier with aid of a visual image, thanks to technology!
In this regard we always endevour in the production of quality images in the sence that quality and accurate diagnosis can not be achieved without this provision hence, we are competency driven when moulding our graduates.

sea, the beachesYoung patients normally do not fit into standard practice; young children are naturally active, making simple procedures as performing an x-ray examination to be problematic for paediatric radiology professional. In this regard our training aims to make students to take a leadership role in improving care for children. We always strive to underscore the fact customer service goes beyond simply 'service' in paediatric health care and clearly is an issue of exceptional patient and family care.

Throughout its history, the study of Medical Imaging has continually expanded its curriculum to embrace the changes and advancements in its profession.. As technology advances our curriculum also evolves to incorporate new equipment, procedures and teaching methods to advance our students.
