Our mission

To train clinically oriented physiothepy professionals to deal with society specific health care needs, contribute towards community health promotion and development of physiotherapy profession in Rwanda, thus, contributing to the improvement of the health of Rwandans in all applicable areas.

Department goals

- To produce well qualified physiotherapy professionals in Rwanda.
- To address the health care needs of the society through the field of physiotherapy.
- To contribute to health promotion in society and communities of Rwanda, in particular the epidemiological conditions like HIV/AIDS

Physiotherapist’s Job Description

  • Identify, plan, implement and evaluate performances of physiotherapy services in response to the needs of patients or clients in the community.
  • Work in the health sector to satisfy the needs of the population.
  • Work independently, and with others to use physiotherapeutic processes, utilizing the knowledge and skills upgraded during the course effectively.
  • Develop research capacity in physiotherapy in order to improve the physiotherapeutic services in the health sector.
  • Contribute ethically and effectively to the improvement of health services within the legal requirements of the profession.
  • Follow guidelines as formulated by World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) for the development of the profession.
